Benjamin Oestreich

Coach Ben has been a coach at nearly every level of sport for thirty years.  At fifteen Ben gained access to a rural gymnasium after agreeing to provide basketball lessons to the local kids.  He's been coaching ever since.

A Coach Thirty Years in the Making

Coach Ben has had the benefit of working with remarkable coaches and driven athletes throughout the last three decades.  From volunteering to coach kids in the old Endeavor library to guiding teams to the NCAA National Tournament in both basketball and tennis a combined 12 times, his experience is unique and varied.

As an assistant women's basketball coach at Lakeland College, Ben oversaw the individual development program.  During this time the team earned 25 all conference nominations on its way to winning multiple conference titles and advancing to the NCAA National Tournament four times.  Beyond individual skill development Coach Ben also coordinated the film review and opponent scouting for the team.  Breaking down the plays and players of the opposition was key to helping the team play to their strengths and develop a new strategy of attack for each game.

Coach has coached tennis at three Div III colleges and universities.  Lakeland University (Sheboygan, WI), Wartburg College (Waverly, IA), and Edgewood College (Madison, WI).  As the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at each school Ben recruited and trained college level athletes to compete yearly for the conference title.  Along the way to becoming the winningest coach in Edgewood College history his men's and women's teams combined for eight trips to the NCAA DIII National Tournament.

Throughout his coaching career Coach Ben also directed or taught multiple camps (Jefferson HS Tennis Camp, Adidas Summer Tennis Camp at Edgewood College, Adidas Summer Tennis Camp at UW Madison, Lakeland College Summer Basketball Camp, Loras College Circuit Camp, Wartburg College Day Camp at AP) as well as worked as a tennis teaching professional (Wakonda Club in Des Moines, IA, Hitters in Middleton, WI).

Ben has been coaching youth basketball in Baraboo, WI with the boys and girls basketball clubs for the past five years and started once again taking on private and group lessons two years ago with Court Skills with Ben.  During that time Coach worked with athletes looking to build their game in tennis and basketball.  With the opening of Big Top Athletics Coach Ben finally has the home court advantage.
